Happy days

I promised to talk about our busy week. On Wednesday morning, we met our friend Tammy and her son at Central Market (a local specialty grocery store and cafe). Danny had a great time and we were there for several hours. Then, on Thursday, something miraculous happened: it was in the lower 60s when we got up! So I got on the phone and arranged to meet Kris, Dayna and some new friends and their kids at the park. We were there for two hours and, again, Danny had a blast. On Friday, Danny and I brought lunch to Mark at work. Again, he was a happy camper, but this time it was because he had plenty of St. Michael’s teachers and staff fawning over him. Today, we went back to Central Market for some breakfast and groceries. Danny was as excited as I’ve ever seen him! I’ve found that it’s the perfect environment for babies because no one pays too much attention to us if Danny starts screaming. Which he didn’t even come close to doing…that is, until we were on our way home. I think we’ve experienced our first hint of “Angry Danny.” He got so upset that we wouldn’t take him out of his car seat while in the car, that he started screaming like a little girl at a Hillary Duff concert. Very high pitched. Then, when we got home and Mark was loosening the straps, Danny started giving him this angry glaring/grunting/teeth-gritting look, as if to say, “How DARE you ignore me…I’m SO over you right now.” It was so adult-like that I burst into laughter, which seemed to take the edge off his anger. If there’s one thing we know about Danny so far, it’s that he has a hard time not returning a smile. Thank goodness!

Here's Danny at Central Market. And he's even smiling in his sleep these days...although we're still working on sleeping for longer stretches.
