Banned from PakMail

A few more sniffles and sneezes and coughs, but Danny is feeling much better. Now, if we could only get him to sleep as well as he did before the cold. For some reason, he's up every 2-3 hours again. I've become such an efficient sleeper, though, that it doesn't bother me much. As soon as my head hits the pillow (or couch, or carpet or countertop...wherever I end up!), I'm out like a light and feel like a new woman within two hours. We would, though, like to skip the midnight feeding, since before the cold he was sleeping from 8:30 to 2:30 before waking up.

Although it still hits the 90s towards the end of the day, our mornings have been terrifically cool. So I've been trying to get Danny out of the house and breathing some fresh air. Tuesday was a less than blessed trip to PakMail to mail some packages. A screaming child in a public place really has a way of separating the parents from the non-parents (aka, "the ANNOYED"). Those who've been through it themsleves did their best to open doors for me, get my packages out of my car for me, happily let me cut in line and make faces at Danny until he cracks a smile. Those not yet blessed by parenthood, including the manager behind the counter, gave me their best "the world doesn't need you and your screaming baby" glares.

Since then, though, we've had the courage to get out of the house for some great outings with other moms -- I'll write about those in the next post! Right now, I need to un-newbornize his car seat (take the head cushion out and move up the straps) since he seems to hate, hate, hate sitting in it right now. A friend recommended the change yesterday. It hadn't crossed my mind that, now that he's nearly 3 months old, he may not appreciate being so snuggly cradled in there, especially in this Texas heat. Our boy is growing up!

Well, except that we know the owner of that store -- and HE has two kids. So if he would have been there, he would have been sympathetic!
