Ode to Tyler

Where'd my baby go?

That's what you'll hear around our house these days. Now that Tyler is 19 months old, he's really starting to show us what a big boy he is. For a while now, he's wanted to do EVERYTHING himself. Get into his car seat. Get out of his car seat. Put his shoes (aka "tchows") on. Take his socks (aka "tots") off. Blow his nose with a "titu." And if you don't let him at least try, you're subjected to a big, "NNNOOOOO! Meh halp!!! Meh halp!"
I didn't think it would be possible for our dear, sweet and gentle giant, but it has happened. The terrible twos are starting to set in. Independence. That's what it's all about. But don't get me wrong. Tyler's still my cuddle bug. The neighbors call him the happiest baby in the world. They don't believe that he ever cries. And he's every bit as much of a mama's boy as ever.

Here are some of his favorite things right now:

  • Elmo
  • Helping in the kitchen
  • Baths
  • Sweets (especially chocolate)
  • Vitamins and medicine (yum!)
  • Making mommy carry him
  • Slides at the park (the bigger the better)
  • Shoes
  • Our neighbor Madeline
  • Flirting
  • Getting in trouble with his brother
  • Time outs (yes, he LOVES them)
  • Eric Carle books

Tyler (aka Tiger, aka Tylee)...we love you so much. We're so proud of you. And we beg you to have patience with us while you stretch your wings. You're a bit too eager to grow up for my taste!
