A humbling week

Just an update on how our little Tyler is doing. He's great. The rest of the swelling on his head has gone down, leaving just a huge goose egg on the side of his skull (you can sort of see it in the picture) as a constant reminder to "handle with care." But it doesn't bother him at all. Just the rest of us! His immediate exhaustion has given way to crummy sleeping habits. No doubt because he's been getting spoiled. But his pedi agrees that we should do what we can to keep him comfortable now...and worry about the sleep training later. So we moved the guest bed back in his room so that when I'm too tired to make it back to my bed, I don't have to collapse on the floor like I had been! And he's been back to being swaddled and nursed more often during night for a while.

Don't get me wrong: it's not all doom and gloom around here. We have some friends and relatives who have already made light of the situation. Allison, for one, suggested a Humpty Dumpty costume for Halloween. My mom mentioned that perhaps it's not too early for a bike helmet for Christmas?
