Tyler earned himself a pony

Let me just start out by saying we're all fine. Thank God. And here are a few pictures of Tyler to prove to the grandparents that he is, in fact, still in one piece and still a happy baby. But we did have a big scare. Tyler tumbled out of his bouncer, off of the kitchen table, onto the ceramic tile floor, right in front of me. He has two hairline skull fractures...and one mom who is embarrassed, terrified, relieved, shocked, grateful, emotionally wrecked...you name it.

It's a long story and if you want to hear all of the details, I suggest you give us a call and I'll recount it for you as I did for three separate social workers (who were all extremely empathetic and helpful, thankfully). But the bottom line: I'm being truthful about how I stupidly set him in his bouncer ON THE TABLE because we all do it, and we all shouldn't, and I want you other parents to realize that these things really do happen. And spending the night in two separate ERs, with an ambulance transfer in between, is not a good time. Neither is watching your nearly 4 month old go through CAT scans, xrays, needle pokes...the list goes on.

We're thankful that Dell Children's opened just a few months ago. It's an amazing place (although way too busy already). And I kept telling Tyler that his brother would LOVE hanging out there with all the fun stuff for kids (although I hope he NEVER has the opportunity). And we're thankful for our neighbor Robert and friend Stuart for watching Danny in the wee hours. And Allison for being "on call" in case I needed her. Tyler's home now and is resting up. The swelling is going down and there is no extra treatment needed at this point, besides follow up exams. He slept incredibly well last night (better than he's ever slept). I think he now realizes how comfortable his crib really is, considering the alternative. I've found that the floor of his room is also comfortable, considering the alternative.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and concern!

Oh, LuAnn! I can't begin to imagine the horror of what y'all have been through! To say I'm glad Tyler is okay is a huge understatement.

I hate that it happened but I, for one, will learn from your experience and never put the bouncy seat up on the table again. You're right, we all do it...

If it makes you feel any better, this weekend I caught Miller only inches from the floor when he fell off a bed while I was adjusting the sling I was about to put him in. Awesome.

Sending hugs and best wishes for a quick recovery of Tyler's noggin!
