The TV babysits

Photo captions: Danny gives himself a yogurt mustache and declares, "Look! Dziadzia!" And as I turn my back on the boys for a minute, Danny decides that Tyler needs a snack.

Danny's part time daycare was closed on Monday because of street construction so I was scared to death to take care of both boys -- on my own -- for nearly the whole week. But we had a great time. Unfortunately, the TV is a great mommy's helper when I'm busy with Tyler. Danny certainly has seen his share of Calliou (his favorite), Little Bill, Seasame Street, The Wonder Pets, and Blue's Clues. I even tried to get Danny to sit through his very first movie: Finding Nemo. But then I remembered quite early on (when Nemo's entire family gets wiped out by the scary sea creature) that Disney movies aren't exactly toddler safe. I was suddenly trasported back to a Hawley, Minnesota, movie theatre circa 1982, where we had to leave a showing of Bambi because my sister and I were terrified to witness Bambi's mom die in the forest fire.
Danny didn't cry, however. He just gasped as the sea creature went in for the kill, turned to me and said, "Not like fishies. All done. Watch Calliou now."

Ah, yes. Whatever. I was 5. I just remember it was traumatic.
