It's official, Danny is a toddler boy

This evening we finished playing outside and brought everything into the garage. LuAnn decided to quickly water the potted plants and something caught my eye in the gutters so I grabbed the ladder to take a peak.

Danny followed me to the ladder and as I came back down he moved away and back into the garage. LuAnn started to pick up a couple things from the front lawn as I folded the ladder to put it back; just then I hear LuAnn yell, "Danny don't do that! No! NO!" I turned my head to look and... [pause]

Let me paint you a quick picture. Our driveway is at a pretty impressive incline from the street, enough that I feel my quads and lower back squeeze when I walk up the driveway. Danny has learned to take his tricycle up a neighbors driveway, turn around, lift his feet and ride down the driveway. He loves it! Giggles every time he takes the ride. The neighbors driveway isn't anything like ours. So, picture painted, back to the story.

[unpause] ...to my amazement, Danny had started down our driveway from the very top and was just out of LuAnn's reach to grab the "adult handle bar" on his tricycle. He picked up so much speed that I think I'd be nervous myself if I were riding it. You know what's coming next. Danny hits the bottom of the driveway and because the street levels off, his front wheel turned and Danny flipped foward completing a full mid-air roll before the tricycle landed on top of him.

I had my first experience of "daddy as protector" kick in and I'm not sure how I got from the front door to him as fast as I did. I almost I wish this was video taped because it may have been a world record performance. Anyway, Danny took a couple scrapes to the head and a good shot to his lip. The good news is he's just fine. The bad news is he's officially a toddler and apparently has his uncle Greg's dare-devil gene. Thanks, Uncle Greg! We so appreciate that.

The picture tells it all... fat lip, slight bump on the head but still smiling.
