I had a long day at work but when I came home LuAnn and Danny were having a good time. I thought I'd be coming home to an iffy situation since it was day two after Danny's four month immunization but I was pleasantly surprised. St. Michael's had a home football game that night and since I've only been to the homecoming game, I decided it was time for our first boys only trip and give LuAnn a little break.
LuAnn put Danny in his warm pajamas and gave me a hat; it was in the mid-60s so I didn't want Danny getting cold. I packed him into the car seat and off we went. We arrived at St. Michael's to a 10-0 Crusaders lead but Danny and I were stealing attention away from the game. Thankfully that didn't last too long and we got to watch the game for a little while.
Most impressive was Danny's interest in the game. He was looking back and forth all over the field and laughed a little when a play came close to our sideline and a handful of players stampeded by us. Danny's seen plenty of football on TV and seemed excited when those players were only 10 feet away.
Not wanting to push my luck, or anger LuAnn, we left the game at 8:45 and had Danny in bed by 9:10. I pulled him out of his car seat, walked him straight to his room and he fell asleep without so much as a whimper.
It wasn't a long trip and it sure isn't grocery shopping but I think I'm ready to have more boys only trips with Danny. He seems to love his baby bjorn and that makes going places much easier.
(Thank you to Cookie Wilson, a St. Michael's parent, for the great picture of Danny and me.)
